This video highlights local growers David Reyes and Joel Garcia, who are proudly carrying on a fifth-generation legacy of cultivating the infamous Poteet Strawberries. Their dedication, heritage, and love for the land continue to shape the flavor and story of the Strawberry Capital of Texas.

Nestled in the heart of South Texas, Poteet has proudly earned its title as the Strawberry Capital of Texas. Just a short drive from San Antonio, this small farming town grew from humble roots — beginning with Henry and Ida Mumme’s backyard strawberry patch — into one of Texas’ most beloved agricultural success stories.
In 1948, the very first Poteet Strawberry Festival began, launching a tradition that now welcomes thousands of visitors each spring. Today, the festival remains a cherished family-friendly South Texas event, celebrating our local growers, community pride, and the sweet strawberries that made Poteet famous.
